Intermodal

Intermodal freight transport

Definition:

Movement of containerised cargo over air, land, or sea through the use of different transport modes aircraft, truck, rail, boats, ships and barges capable of handling containers.

Current issue – ISO containers are secured on rail, ships and trucks with manual or semi-automatic twistlocks as well as stacking cones that requires manual handling. It slows the process of loading and unloading and it increases the risk of OH&S for all workers.
